Forbes magazine released the annual list of the most powerful women of the year. Check out which names made a difference in the world this year.
Forbes magazine recently released its long-awaited list of most powerful women in the world in 2022. In the top 3 of the magazine’s 19th annual list we have Ursula von der Leyen, president of the European Commission in first place, then Christine Lagarde, president of the European Central Bank and in third place the vice president of the USA. Kamala Harris.
The Forbes list of the Most Powerful Women in the World elected 100 names that stood out this year. In fact, the choice of women is made based on four main factors: money, media, impact and influence. Therefore, the result is a selection of women, who, according to the magazine, fight against the rules and standards.
This year’s list had no Brazilian. But check out 20 important Brazilian women in the history of the country.
Who are the most powerful women of 2022?
So let’s go, find out who were the most powerful women this year.
1. Ursula von der Leyen
At the top of the list is the President of the European Commission. After Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Ursula launched three economic sanctions against Putin’s country. Among them, banning transactions with the central bank, as well as closing airspace for Russian travel and banning Kremlin news agencies.
2. Christine Lagarde
Christine was the first woman to head the European Central Bank. And as well as the No. 1 on the List, she also had great influence balancing continued support for Ukraine. In addition, Christine Lagarde also helped to reduce inflation and energy costs.
3. Kamala Harris
Last year, Kamala Harris became the first woman, first black and first South Asian-American to become Vice President of the world’s greatest power.
4. Mary Barra
Mary Barra is the CEO of General Motor, and the first woman to lead one of the three largest automakers in the United States.. In fact, under his leadership, the company achieved constant increases in gender equity reports.
5. Abigail Johnson
She has been CEO of Fidelity Investments since 2014, the year she took over from her father, and has been chairman since 2016. As such, Abigail Johnson has about 24.5% stakes in the company, and has about $3.7 in assets under management.
6. Melinda Gates
Melinda Gates is just one of the most powerful women in terms of philanthropy in the world. That’s because she is co-chair of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. As such, she devoted much of her work to addressing the rights of women and girls.
7. Giorgia Meloni
In October of that year, Giorgia Meloni became Prime Minister of Italy, and also the first woman in the country’s history to hold such a position. And more than that, she still represents female leadership as the only woman to lead a G20 nation.
8. Karen Lynch
Karen is CEO of CVS Health, a healthcare services company. Incidentally, this company runs the largest concentration of independently administered Covid testing sites in the United States, and Karen was responsible for the 2020 CVS pandemic response command.
9. Julie Sweet
Julie Sweet has been CEO of Accenture, a global services company since 2019. And as such, she makes diversity her top priority. In an interview with Forbes she said the following: “A culture of equality helps everyone. It is not a zero-sum game.”
10. Jane Fraser
Closing the top 10 of the most powerful women in the world in 2022, we have Citigroup CEO Jane Fraser. She became the first woman to reach that position, as well as being the first woman to manage a major Wall Street bank.
